What would be a reasonable installation price

Hi I just recently bought myself an indash dvd player but was wondering what a fair installation price be. So far I got a quote of 160 with parts and labor. I don't know if that's fair or not. Please reply quick thanks.

seems fair.

EDIT: is there a screen being installed as well??

160 for just a dvd player is too much. its just like any other headunit. 60 bucks would be enough

EDIT2: also, if the dvd player is coming with a screen and there is a brain unit then i would say 160 is in the right spectrum. if there is no brain or screen and this is just a single din dvd player install thats way to much

Is this a single din DVD? If it is all you need is the metra kit for 'parts', this is under $30. The install itself should be less than 30 minutes, I think most shops charge like $30-40 tops for this. If you buy it there you should be able to get it done for free.

It is EXTREMELY easy to do yourself, I would recommend doing that and saving the cash. If you can do your laundry you can install a deck with the metra kit.

It's the Pioneer AVH-p7490 which has the Indash motorized 7" LCD dvd player, 9000r brain, and also the 5.1 tweeter. Yes it's a one din.

I don't know how to do it myself and plus I can't find the metra kit for my car. I went to Tweeters, Circuit City and Best Buy, but have yet to find it. I'm not good with electronics.

You have 2nd gen CL? just ask them to order it from Metra, give them the part number.

Its really easy to install... but if you are going to pay for it, $160 is a rip off.

Where is the tweeter going? If you are having custom work for that, that could be the reason for the high price. For the deck alone its honestly a 15 minute job.

Good thing you guys are all installers.

If you do have a 2nd gen CL..... I would probably charge a bit more than $160. Even with the Metra dashkit.

If I were doing the install..... And I'm pretty fair. And I know the CL stereo well....
$350 minimum.

Whoever quoted you $160 doesn't know what they actually have ahead of them.

I am a profesional installer, and I would charge about 200 plus parts (about 25 for parts)or so for that given the car and products being installed. The Brain alone is a bit of a headache to install given the overall size of it.

I've put in at least a half dozen decks in a CL this year (my own), including a dvd.

$350? Am I missing something here? What are you thinking that will take this much time/money? The brain might be a little headache but the whole dash pretty much pops right out to give easy access, and with the metra kit you just screw it down....

I'm the one who said its easy, in response to racersky's question.

What does 'don't post your shit here' mean?

Sounds like you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

It seems like he doesn't want me to post questions because of the fact that it's stupid questions I guess.

but its not a stupid question at all. it could have got an answer by using the search but that would have been very involved, like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I tried using the search button but then came upon minimal results. Sometimes it's hard to find stuff with the search button if you don't type in the right keyword. Maybe that's my problem I guess.

Definately not a stupid question. It's frustrating to me that all these PROFESSIONALS are so willing with their comments and advice. It's people like this that make it possible for me to afford all my toys. I can't tell you how many customers bring their cars in after attempting things themselves. But they all had help from their friends

There is a huge difference between somebody that's done it a few times, and somebody that does it for a living.

I know how to drive a car..... So why the hell should NASCAR drivers make so much money?

Skill. Experience. Creativity. Having the CORRECT tools. Having the right resources.

Are these things neccesary or luxury items?

If you are working on my 20 some thousand dollar car....... These are MINIMUM requirements.
