What kind of SCREEN do I need?

I want to put it in the note tray. . . I'll have a pro install. However, I don't know what to get. Maybe someone here had the same uses that I want and knows what to recommend.

-I want something that will display the CD track etc...(i know most all of them do that.

-TV TUNER. . .

I don't need DVD or anything like that . . . How much would a screen with those basic features run me? Brand? Model name?

ask your installer... but if it was me i would say the pioneer avx-7300 for the screen and you can easily attach the gex-6400tv or the gex-p7000tv for the tv tuner...

If you want to put it in the note tray, then be careful. Not all units fit in there.

There is no telling since you have to dissemble the unit one way or another to fit it in there.

It takes mad skill to fit a unit with built-in DVD/CD player. I thought it was impossible but I saw it done in a TL.

yeah silverknight it has been done but the dash had to be hacked to fit it... personally i dont not like that idea since you will never be able to return the car to stock unless you replace that whole dash piece... i would say just replace the whole stock unit with the tv of your choice... and why by from crutchfield.. they are extremely high... i would look on ebay or even check out www.etronics.com ...

shawhite,
I dont know how it was done with the built-in DVD/CD player. With mine, I can put it back to stock anytime. No one knows unless they remove the stock HU and know exactly how it looks like originally. Actually, my car is stock now and it is with the dealer awaiting a new tranny.

Hey SilverKnight....would you like to do my install for me if I ever bring my car to Houston? Lunch and dinner's on me!!

I want to do this so much. I came so close to buying the exact same unit as yours, but I'm afraid of doing the install.

shawhite,
Do you know where the pics are? I want to see them again but cannot find them.

1gCL,
I'm afraid I cannot do it for you. It may take a whole day to get it done due to all the trimming to get it to fit properly. You may have problem with stock HU since it is extremely sensitive to presure cause by the screen sitting on top of it. Climate control box has to be remove and trim a little. Screen unit's faceplate have to be removed. A custom faceplate for the screen has to be built. Too many things to be done and warranty issue is involved. Lunch and dinner will not cut it . I think you should find a shop with liability insurance to do the install or doing it yourself. I am sorry.

me personally i would not recommend doing this mod... i would just replace the stock readio with a tv or do like silverknights new install... hey by the way silverknight that is nice i just wish i would have thought about it before i got rid of my flip out screen... and i would have to agree with you on how much work is involved... i started to do this install but after getting started i saw that it was going to take more cutting than i was willing to do so i just replaced the stock headunit with the pioneer flip out screen...
