Remember to tell people you drive a TSX : )

I would go with different speakers.

The amp is nice but pricey.

I use DLS a lot and it sounds great, and IMO blows away infinity at the same price point.

I personally am not a fan of Infinity speakers, but i've had good luck w/ JL Amps.

I have not personally heard the DLS system, but I'd take Eld's word for it

amp is good but pass on the speakers. Whats your budget? Best speaker ive ever owned was the Focal Utopia 165w3. They were a three way setup and the staging was amazing on those.

im gunning for a total of around $1200 or so....

im like an ultra-noob at this audio stuff.. just trying to learn as i go right now. i'm more of a under-the-hood person. from what i understand, a 5-channel amp would be suggested if im gonna power the 4 speakers and the sub.

so what other good 5 channel amps are there? my friends have all pretty much suggested JL.

the speakers... i've been reading about alpine type-Rs a lot. how are polk speakers? what else do ppl suggest? i'll look into the DLS..

I ran Zapco amps loved them.

alpine type-r pass
polk deff pass

1200 for an amp and 2 sets of speakers isnt that big of a budget...with that in mind go take a look at Image dynamics. Great stuff, low prices and not mainstream and they are in socal.

JL makes good amps - no doubt about that..... Infinity makes decent speakers, nothing earth-shattering, but very good. Their "perfect" subs are a great value and sound nice.

I'm a recent DLS guy and I have to say that their stuff is top quality at an affordable price. They have 3 different 5 channel amp models (1 in each amp series), plus they make excellent component speakers and subs. Subs are up for a lot more debating than other speakers, because some people go for sound, others volume, and some even super low end boom.

I would go with 10" subs either way - smaller enclosures with tight, accurate bass.

I am running with Infinity door speakers and seperates. And I love the way they sound for the price. Had Inifinity 10s before and they also kicked ass.

Never owned a JL amp though.

are you really into sound quality, or do you just want something better than stock?

after some research at work today ...company time...

i think im leaning towards polk momos.. MMC690s for the rear deck and MMC5250s for the front door.

possibly powered by the JL 500/5. how would that sound?

gChow, My buddy bought some Polk Momo's off Ebay also. The price was good but nothing to special, I've heard DLS and there awesome for there price, I've also heard Type-R's and there also good for there price, it depends on the music you listen to. DLS is awesome for like Jazz, Rock... Type-r's i found sound better with hip-hop, Trance, dance and so forth.

just my 2 cents.

Why not hit up Eldude for his speaker upgrade? Fronts and 6x9s. Great middle ground setup. You run them off the stock amp, and really easy to install. This can save you a ton of money if you are just looking to upgrade the stock system.

DLS make trance sound unbelieveable - nice and tight with good low end rumble.
