What do I need?

1) What is the tightest, must punchy, hit you in your chest sub I can buy, perforably not to much money(under $400)

Im currently running a BD501 (about 600 watts) to my L7, and its just not tight and punchy enough. Its in a 12"x12"x12" cube that isnt ported.

2)Would it be more punchy if I got one of the Kicker enclosures for the speaker?
3)Would it be more punchy if made another box like I have and ported it?

You guys know more about this than me, tell me what you think.

Overall im just getting too much boom, and not enough punch. Im thinking its the speaker i have...

You don't want it ported if you want it tighter.. I've never had much luck with ported boxes..

First off I'd find out if the box you have meets the airspace required for the sub..

from what i remember reading, a bad box can make a good sub sound like crap and a good box can make a soso sub sound pretty nice. I think if you get a box made to spec, sealed, that should do the trick
