I was getting ready to order either a Grom iphone/bluetooth adapter or something similar but decided I may just go ahead and get a new headunit for my 03 TL-S. Its got nav, and I know i'll lose the voice, but figured what the heck-I can stream voice commands through bluetooth on my phone. I've read tons of posts regarding the factory unit, and I'm no audiophile, but I have to say that it does NOT sound very good. I've got a BOSE system in my GMC truck and it sounds significantly better than this one??
The question is, are the receivers that are under $200 even worth messing with? I'm probably gonna change out the factory speakers as well, and tie in the bose sub, but thats about it. No external amp for now. It just seems crazy what is out there now for so little money! I'm looking at this one or something similar to it:
Its about the same cost as what I was gonna pay for an adapter and has everything the adapter does, with a WAY better interface! Hopefully it won't look cheesy in the car or attract thieves.
I'm just looking for input regarding experience with these inexpensive HU's.
