No.. There's a slim chance it could be a grounding issue.. But very very slim..

Inside the unit there are tweaks for the RGB.. I don't recommend trying to fix it yourself.. I would send the unit back for evaluation..

please use yellow red for accessory and black forground in the samller black connector behind nav, and you won't have any problems, rgb ground is ok its tapped into factory rgb groun/shield.

Silver,
No man, I haven't had a chance to try the filter either. I went on a vacation and drove the car, using V's unit and it worked flawlessly! I just haven't had a chance to do it but I did figure where I'm going to install the filter. Since I get the noise only when I turn on my computer, I'm going to install it on the power line powering the computer and NOT V's converter unit. Hopefully, this will be the right place to put it in my case. Don't know if your lines occur all the time or only if when the DVD player is on? Let me know if you install it and how things turn out.

My lines happen all the time... it just seems more with the DVD player because it changes colors on the screen... and i can still notice it if i look realy carefuly on the white navi screen...
ALSO I noticed something wierd... when i am driving, the lines are there if i let go of the gas.. If i accelerate, then the lines sort of disappear... KEN and JUVE, any idea on where i should install my filter????

thanxx guys

If possible, try to hook up a portable DVD player, or some other battery powered video source. Then see if you have the same lines.

If you see lines still, then V's unit has the problem, and probably needs the filter. If you don't see the interference, then it's the DVD player, so check the ground and put the filter on that.

Good luck!

Alright, to anyone else who is having the "lines" problem on your screens...I've ordered the filter, suggested above by el, and am going to install hopefully, this weekend. I will post my results and maybe, hopefully , we can get this problem solved. Silver, still waiting on a response from you?!?!?

Ha...that's so weird. I just stumbled into this thread realizing that i'm not the only who is getting those weird jumpy lines across the navi!

To remedy this I bought and just received today, the recent group buy domofnavwithtv had going on last week in Black Market. It's a new unit, similar to this one, which also adds an extra video input for a rear back up camera, which is also on its way. Once I get it installed, next week or so, i can let you know about the lines problem.

Good luck with the filter though guys...hope it works...it's a real pain when you're trying to watch a dvd...i mean...my passengers...and the screen has all these lines jumping across and then loses its color. Not cool Zeus!

those lines have been bugging the crap out of me... in addition to grounding, i've been wanting to try a voltage regulator, which i was almost 90% sure would remedy the problem... never got around to doing it thouugh.

yeah in my case, I already tried a different groud (actually connected the ground of my av source to the navigation ground thinking that this would be best since its connected with the navi screen) but that didn't work! I'm hoping that this filter will take care of most of the lines if not all of them because my lines move with the RPMs therefore linking them with alternator noise (I think )!

Are you guys using a Power inverter for your video source? Where is the power and ground connected ? How is the video source hooked up ?

Ha...good question! I have no clue. I had I-MOD from the TL forums install mine. He says my relay has probably gone bad. I'll make sure to pay close attention when he switches out the convertors. Hmmm....maybe even take some pics. (of us in the nude....IF you're lucky )

No inverter here. Just a 12v power supply hooked up to an ACC source at the ignition with an inline fuse. Ground is connected to a bolt next to the fuel sending unit (in the trunk). Video source is hooked up with monster composite video cable to tv-out on the PC. I've had some previous experience with noise and have solved it by changing the ground point however, in my case, this time it doesn't seem to help any.

Yeah, unfortunately I haven't received the filter yet. Once I do, I'll post my results. For now, I'm dealing with the lines, not that bad for me since I'm driving my car most of the time and am not constantly staring at the screen but annoying if you're a passenger, watching a movie.

Alright everyone, I've finally finished the install of this filter. For the record, its a Periphal PDF-10 Noise filter, suggested by Elduderino is this thread. I purchased the filter from www.installers.com but you can find it on numerous sites.
Install was very easy, the filter has 3 wires red, blue and black. Red is connected to the 12v source, blue connects to the component 12v input and black is an optional ground wire.
So the results...I'm totally satisfied. You guys can see for yourselves in the linked avi's (do a save as...).
First off, let me explain my video setup real quick. I've got a computer hooked up into Vsokolov's plugnplay navi converter unit to output video to the stock navigation screen.
The first avi is a "before filter" shot showing the deskop of my car computer.
save as 1...

The second is a "before filter" shot of MediaEngine (an mp3 player interface for car applications).
save as 2...

The third is the "after filter" install shot of the same application
save as 3...

So as you guys can see from the 2nd avi especially, I was getting those alternator noise lines but the filter totally cancelled them out. I still have tiny tiny lines but they are no more than what I get when I view the stock navigation interface. So all in all I am totally pleased. Thanks again El
