VCD's on the I-VES

Just wanted to share my experiences with the I-VES DVD system so far.

It has problems playing copied DVD's (using DVD Decryptor, DVD2ONE and Nero), which is a bummer because I make a lot of copies (backups).

However, it plays VCD's perfectly. www.dvdrhelp.com has a lot of info on how to make a VCD from a DVD. The benefits are that you can make a VCD with a CD burner instead of a DVD burner and that a blank CD is much cheaper (usually free after rebates) then a blank DVD. Also, since the I-VES screen is small, you don't really notice any picture quality issues (sound is fine also). The only issue is that it takes longer to decrypt and burn a VCD then a DVD.

Hope this info is useful.

Warren

I used DVD Xcopy, but you can get all the tools you need for free.

I personally use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. You can also use DVD Shrink to do the ripping as well, but I find DVD Decrypter goes a bit faster.
