Used pricing for MTX Amp and Polk Sub

My neighbor had this Polk Audio 10" Sub (DB104) and MTX Thunder 325W amp (275X) just sitting around that he got from another friend. Both are brand new in retail boxes, and never installed. He's a nice guy and all, but what should I offer him for the pair? He'd pretty much give it to me for free, but I wanna give him some money back.

Also any reviews on either? Should I even bother with em? Keep in mind, that I'm an audio noob, and I'm probably just gonna use em to add a sub to my stock system in my other car. I just want some thump, and I'm pretty much tone deaf when it comes to sound quality.

thanx for the range. hmm, so they're not that good.... would Infinity stuff be better - I think I got a hookup that gets them at wholesale prices. Although I'm kinda limited in that I only want something smaller - prolly a 10 - in a small box.

Well, i didnt mean they aren't good, I personally would listen to each brand first and then make your decision. Sound Quality can be measured by electronic devices but ultimately it is subjective. So, which ever one you think sounds good for you and within your budget, get it. You will be the one listening to it for the most part, so don't try to make me happy

Yeah I'm leaning towards the MTX/Polk just cuz they're nearly free for me. Do you have any recommendations for amp wiring kits? Do I need a LOC if the amp has built in controls for each channel's gains?

Also, I wanna make sure my connections are right. It's a 2 channel amp for a single sub. I'm getting the signal from the rear speakers before the factory amp. So I connect the
+/- from each rear speaker into the amp, and then bridge the connection for the sub on the amp output?

Thanx for the help again.

Well what i did, is i took the signal from the stock sub's amplifier behind the passenger side rear seat. I tapped signal from there as well as the remote wire, its way simpler than takin it fro mthe back speakers in teh door.

Oh sorry this is for another car I have. It's a Bose with no stock sub, but a separate OEM amp for the rear speakers in the trunk. I figure that's a perfect place to get the signal.
