Just got my 04 TSX, the sound system is good but it feels like there's no mids? Or barely.

Any recommendation for a sound upgrade? Should I start with the front side speakers or the 6X9?

 

I’ll skip the do search stuff and go with a quick run down.

The 6x9s are bass only and the crossover is in the amp. The dash tweeters are also crossed in the amp. The door speakers are 6 ½ and get the full range.

Now I will say search, because it depends what you want to do. I added components up front and 3 way 6x9s in the rear. I bypassed the factory amp and crossovers with a 4ch amp. I do not use the rear door or any subwoofer. I like classic rock, jazz and 1940’s big band. I consider myself to be an audiophile (my wife considers me a nut).

The mids seem to be gone because the stock speakers exaggerate the mid-bass, kind of overpowering the sound. I replaced all speakers except the rear doors (which I use just for ambiance).

But if you want to do it a bit at a time, I guess if you want quality, concentrate on the front speakers, but if you want better (less muddy, maybe even lower) bass, replace the 6x9s first. Really, until you do them all, it's just going to be incomplete.

Definitely search for suggestions.

 

Thanks guys. I'm a budget audiophile so I guess to start I'll replace the front door speakers.

I know I'm supposed to search but can anyone throw some suggestions for moderetly priced front speakers?

Also, how easy would it be for me to replace them? Or should I go with pro install?
