Trunk rattle

This is for those that have subs in their trunk. Do you guys have any rattling in your trunk? My trunk lid seems to rattle a lot when the bass hits hard. My trunk has been deadened already and it sounds like the sound is coming from the trunk lid. The piece that clamp the lid down. Anyone else have this problem?

Oh yeah, this is on and 06 TSX.

My first guess would be the torsion bars that spring your trunk lid up. Moda_way and some others have replaced these with gas shocks with some success.

well, the sound seems like it's coming from right behind the license plate.

on mine it seems to be coming from around the reverse light area, as well as the trunk lid (dynmatting the trunk lid next weekend, ill post hoping there there will be some success)

OT. but does your rear view mirror tilt down too when theh eavy bass notes hit? I can't seem to find a way to fix that besides tilting it back up every few seconds

no my mirror doesn't tilt. but it does vibrate like crazy. it vibrates even without the sub.

i've also tried removing the latch from the lid. then i held down the lid in it's closing position and i get no rattle at all from that. so i believe that it is coming from the latch piece. i've tried putting ensolite around any parts i found that could cause the rattle but i'm still getting.

The noise is coming from your license plate. I had the same problem
till I placed some second skin on the back of the license plate and
the vibrations disappeared.

I put wather stripping tape around the back of my plate and a little in the middle. No part of the plate touches the car now, zero rattle from plate.

ok, i found that pushing down on the trunk lid does help get rid of the rattle.

Yeah when I hold the trunk down also the rattle pretty much stops. At first I thought it might have been the license plate, but that hardly makes any noise.

ok, i found a solution to the rattling. that hook that the trunk lid closes down on, you can adjust it. just unscrew the two bolts and move it down a little. if you look closely, you can see some lines for adjusting the hook.

this got rid of the rattling but with your volume up really high on very very bass heavy songs, the rattling does come back a little.
