Trunk Rattle
Trunk Rattle
Ok, i know this has been covered a bit, but i want to recap.
My '99 rattles like holy hell with my 2 10W3's in it. It is the trunk latch. Anyone have a really fool proof solution for this? I may try the rubber coating thing, but i dont know.
Mistakes i made so far:
Dynamat. Even with the better springs, now my trunk weighs too much.
ANYONE KNOW A GOOD WAY TO REMOVE THAT CRAP?
Expanding foam: used a little to much. use your imagination.
Also i get a little rattle from the aftermarket spoiler from the ghetto wire the run on the inside for the LED. maby ill just yank it.

I just started down that road and yes my trunk rattles like holy hell as well. Just fired up the two 12in Eclipse Alum dvc's. I have started dynomatting the trunk lid but will not use more than one layer for trunklid weight reasons. Someone once said they stuffed old ripped up towels between the trunklid and garnish as well as under the rear deck garnish. I am going to find all the wiring harness and use 3m strip calk to make them stick where they are. The stuff is really cool to work with, its like sticky clay. If your auto parts store doesn't have it you can order online at www.eastwoodco.com and search for 3m its only $10 for 20yards and has a lot uses.
here is what i did... one adjust the rubber pads on the side to apply pressure to the truck this may help a little... if that doesnt work... go to home depot and get some of that rubber coat stuff... the stuff you would use to coat your pliers or screwdriver... etc... well take the loop off that the trunk latch attaches to and dip it in the rubber coating... you will probably want to put a couple of coats on it but this should do the trick....
