Troubleshoot my sub please

I have attempted to install a sub in my car. The equipment is as follows:
Casablanca CD54 head unit
Profile Baja HA700M amp
MTX Thunder6000 10" sub

The amp receives power and turns on and off with the head unit, but the sub plays no sound.
The instruction manual with the head unit has no reference to sub adjustment/install.
The sub has been tested in another vehicle and works.

The head unit had a single RCA output that said Sub out, so I asked on here about having a right and left channel. I was advised to plug a Y splitter into the Sub out jack. This then connects to a regular right/left RCA cable which connects to the amp. The amp is grounded to the strut tower and i filed off the paint. The power wire runs straight from the battery with a 60 amp inline fuse. The polarity on the speaker wire connecting the sub to the amp is correct.

Any idea whats wrong?

The remote wire is ran properly?

What kind of car do you have? Did you use a wiring harness?

The remote wire being the one that signals the amp to turn on and off? If so it works properly.

Car is a 98 CL, I used a wiring harness for the head unit if thats what youre asking.

Thanks for helpin.

Check all the speaker wires, make sure positive and negative aren't crossed. Also, do you have rca's going out to the amp? And you may need to tell your hu that it has a sub, my pioneer, i had to change the audio eq from front and back to front + sub

RCAs going out to the amp?

There are the right and left inputs and there are also RCA outputs on the amp but i was using the speaker wire outputs.

I guess I need to call Blaupunkt and ask about the sub setting, there are so many menu settings and the manual doesnt say anything about it.

Yeah, sounds like you might need to turn the sub pre-out on from the HU menu. I've had to do this on every aftermarket HU I've ever installed.

If you used the sub pre-out on the back of your HU, ran a Y-adapter, connected an RCA cable, and then ran that to the L + R inputs on your amp then you are correct. With such a set up, you should only have one speaker wire going to the sub though. You should have a left + and - and right + and -. You'll want to bridge the speaker output...should be something like left + and right -. I'm not really familiar with your amp but check that wiring. Make sure you properly adjust your input gain as well.

It definately sounds like its as simple as turning it on in the head unit if i can find where to do that. I will figure it out this weekend. As for bridging it, its a single channel sub amp so it only has one of each terminal.

Alright well I contacted Blaupunkt and they said the sub out is always on as long as it has an RCA connected, which it does. I guess I will go back and double check every wiring connection this weekend.

If the amp power light comes on is there a still a possibility it could be a problem with the amp?
