Post For those planning to get video on there Nav Monitor??

Now that this is possible, thanks to SteveStMs, I (we) now have to decide on which video components to get; DVD player or VCR, TV Tuner, RF Modulator, Rear Monitors, Power or Diversity Antenna, Existing Speakers or Upgrade? I wanted to do this all at once, but with a baby expected in April, I might have to go it piece-meal.

Here are a few of my favorite in-car components (by catagory):

DVD Players w/o screens:
Alpine DVA-5205 (in-dash/under dash)
Panasonic CX-DV1500 (in-dash/under dash)
Panasonic CQ-DVR909U Stereo (in-dash)
Panasonic CX-DV700 DVD (in-dash release date February).
Clarion 'Joyride' (In-dash AutoPC w/DVD,MP3)
Also an interesting little unit that looks more like a VCR, but is a DVD player and plays back MP3's. <http://www.autotoys.com/pics/autotoysdvd1.jpg>
Let's not forget the Playstation 2's DVD drive for playback!
For portable DVD players, I like Panasonic's DVD-LV75.

VCR:
Clarion VDH-910 (w/TV tuner and loop through allows 1 more component to be plugged-in)
Sony's mobile VCR (top loading, shortest depth of any mobile VCR)
Alpine VPE-V180A

TV Tuners:
Clarion TTX001 (cheapest I've seen, but still good!)
Clarion TTX7601 (2 source switcher incl.)
Santeca ST-1000

TV Antenna:
Senteca ME-9900
Clarion powered diversity
CruiseTV Satellite system
KVH Satellite system

A/V selectors:
Pioneer CD-VS33 (3 sources, 3 monitors)
Clarion MSS430 (4 sources, 3 monitors)

Just to name a few!
Steve

Question

" On the sound problem with the navi-video kit, instead of using the RF Modulator could you use the Alpine KCA-801B? Street Effectz wrote in an earlier message that he carries them and it seems like it would work in this instance.
> If anyone has auxiliary sources they want to hook up, like dvd/vcr/playstation audio, the part is Alpine KCA-801B (not an FM modulator, it is a box with RCA inputs that will play through your CD Audio lines...much better than modulator). This would be used with the CHA-S624 Ai net changer"

Ron (StreetEffectz)

Please weigh in on the RF Modulator Vs. KCA-801B issue for us with the CHM-620 changer.

According to A tech at a stereo shop today, the KCA-801B WILL NOT work with the M Bus changers. Can anyone (StreetEffectz) please verify. And if it won't, are we now limited to only modulated sound?

It will not work actually....I got lucky because I have an older Alpine changer with the right adapter which is no longer available, so I do have the 801B. But, this no longer works. NO, you are not limited to the RF modulator...you need to tap into the audio lines of the changer, use a relay, a switch, a couple RCA inputs, and BLAMO! you have auxiliary input.

One electronic switch is Peripheral Interface Components SS2P (old model SS298). Or maybe one of these other switches would work for you. See http://www.stinger-aamp.com/peripher...ndex.htm?88,15

Could you please post your prices for these items? Trying to get everything from one source to ease integration efforts, and help support the "contributors" to this site in improving our rides. Thanks.
