Thinking about gettin one, any suggestions of whats hot-new out there? Im thinkin about getting the new panasonic one. Cant remember the model. I want the mp3/wma player as a feature as well. Anyone with any sugestions??? is it easy to install a player on our TLs???

is it easy to install a cd player in the tl... humm depends on what you call easy... but i would say no since you will have to custom make a faceplate and take the whole damn console apart just to get the old radio out.. as for whats new and hot... depends on price range and taste...

i am a huge alpine fan and my whole system is alpine but they are by far some of the plainest headunits out right now... i mean almost every other manufacturer has little graphics on there headunits and alpine only have a text display... i love the way the panasonic looks but i am not to big a fan of panasonic...

 

shawhite is totally right about their appearance. Before you decide on a HU, you need to decide on whether there will be future upgrades to it. For instance, do you think you may opt for a CD changer in the future? If so, you'll probably want it to play MP3s as well as the HU. If that's the case, then Alpine is the way to go. You can pick up the 6 disc MP3 changer at carmedia1 for ~$259 + shipping. You can pick up the CDA-7995 for ~$379 + shipping.

You also have to consider the rest of your system. Are you planning to use aftermarket amps, speakers, and/or EQs? Are you more concerned with its appearance than its performance?

There are a bunch of questions that need to be answered before you can be given a sound recommendation.

Keep in mind that the cost of a HU kit that will allow you to mount your new toy(s) will NOT be cheap. My kit was $200.

The Sony isn't a bad unit but you'll get much more value out of Alpine. I considered the Sony but decided to go with Alpine. It costs a bit more but I think it's worth it.

As I stated previously, we really need to know what your plans are for future upgrades, etc.

 

My plans that i have in the future is this: The fact that i want an mp3/wma player means that i can store hundred of songs on few cds. So a changer would be out of the question. But dont many players come with cd changer controls? Another thing, i want one with a satellite radio feature as well. Did some research and found out that if they have mp3/wma feature, it will most likely have satellie radio feature as well. Yes im aware that i will need to get the satellite radio tuner and all that. the fact that the acura system already sounds clean, wouldnt want much change. Well, i maybe want some tweeters, and maybe, just maybe replace my factory mids and such with better ones. I dont want no subs or anything because it sounds good already. Thats about it!. if i get these tweets and mids, do i need to get a better amp to replace my factory one? Ill need a crossover too huh?

So i want in the future: satellite radio, tweeters, maybe mids .

Would an 02 03 6disc cd player fit in 01? ive been away from acuratl.com so i dont know if anyone already asked this.
