I installed components in the front and 3 way 6x9s in the rear deck. I added a for channel amp. I installed everything so it could be removed and the stock equipment reinstalled when my lease is up.
A lot of TSX owners remove the rear 6x9s (the factory woofers) and put a big box in the trunk.

There is lots of good info in the DIY section. Basically decide what kind of system you want and we can guide you from there.

Mine is also a lease and I have replaced the front speakers and rear 6x9s, but haven't installed an amp. It sounds better than stock, but they are definitely underpowered. I am considering adding an amp since i have about 34 months left on my lease and might just end up purchasing the car anyway.

If you buy the Metra speaker harnesses and use the speaker adapters from millionbuy.com, you can replace the front speakers without any concerns. The rear 6x9s can also be easily replaced. Just remember that the stock amp isn't very good and most aftermarket speakers will be way underpowered.

If you are looking into installing an amp, make sure you do some research on this forum. You will need an amp with balanced differential inputs (some models from JL and Rockford). Mercman makes a cable that makes installation a lot easier.

I just pmed you but guess i can ask here -

So you have the 4-way amp powering the 6x9s and the components and left the doors alone? Is there anything else needed in this process?

I wanna to do this since I'm putting in a 10" sub and still wanna put some new 6x9s and get something out of them other than bass.

Yes, I’m using the front locations for components and the rear deck for 6x9 3 ways. I’m not crazy about the sound of the 6x9s and will likely upgrade them soon. I have no sub.
If you are going with a sub in the trunk I would remove the 6x9s and use the rear door locations instead. I don’t like the idea of a big trunk sub modulating the cones of the rear deck speakers. This is totally up to you how you want to do this though.

Gotcha - yea i'm not sure if id still run the 6x9s in the back too, even if im bumping a small 10"...

When you did the 6x9s - is there anything I need if i were to do that when hooking those up to a 4-channel amp?

You need some speaker size Faston female terminals to make your own speaker wires of cut the plug off a Honda adapter. The hardest part is the factory screw locations are not that straight. I hade to open the holes in one of the 6x9s a little to get the screws to go in. On the other side I bent the deck a little to align the hole with the speaker. I basically put the screw in a little then pushed it over to align it. You’ll see what I mean when you do it. A friend of mine hade the same problem with an 03 Accord.

damn that sounds like a lotta work - ima noob with the audio part of the TSX so dunno how well i'd do with that...

what's my best bet - to unplug the 6x9s and just run the doors n components off a 4 channel?
