Post That's it, I've had it. Stereo here I come.

All you bastards are getting sound in your ride, I can't be the one without beat. I've decided to go Polk/MOMO subs and mids/tweets. I know they are very expensive, but from what I've read, they sound badass. Now the only thing is, should I replace the deck also? Or what kind of amps? Damn, decisions.

I was thinking about the Boston Pros but I've read some good reviews for the Polk/MOMO. I'll listen to both before I buy them though. As for amps, I don't know, I am still researching. I might go with Phoenix Gold.

Definitely get a head unit, if the TL headunit is anything like the Accord V6, then it won't have any preamp outs. It won't sound as clean if you use the stock headunit and use a line converter.

I think that's with all factory head units.

The accord has it a little bit easier though, the head unit is square, we have a trapezoidal shape so you have to get a custom kit. With the accord you could just get 2 dins and call it a day. with out car, we will have some gap at the sides so it's more apparent you have aftermarket.

Good suggestions on the speakers. I just went and listened to the Polk/MOMO mids/tweets, they sound sweet. One downside is that they cost about $400 for the set and $200 each for the 10" sub. We'll see what happens. Who here have hookups on Polk/MOMO stuff?

I am biased ... I love Xtant amps. They all got internal crossovers...etc... If you want a 3 channel Xtant I can try to get you one. It's 2x150 and 300x1. Sam, i'm Eric, the one with the TL with the amp on the trunk lid....
Do you want to buy the amp and trunk lid, i'd sell it (just a thought)

Hey Eric, of course I remember you. So how much is the amp? I might only need a 2 channel amp though since I am only using it for the subs.

You want something different for your car already? How much you want for the trunk lid setup?

Cool

i'll let you know about the amp rack. To be honest I think I am gonna part it out and take the route you got yout wife. I am looking at either an MDX or X5. I can't get myself to shell out for the X5. What kinda two channel you want? I can always ask around ....
as for the amp rack, let me think... it wouldn't need to be painted or anything...=)
Did you get the mugen grill yet?

Oh yes, I ordered the Mugen grill, should be here in 2 weeks. If you want, I'll just buy your whole system and you can have your installer take everything out of your car and put it in mine

I am just looking for a 2 channel amp that can be bridged to power either one 12 or two 10s.

Ok, i've narrowed it down to the following:

Head Unit: Eclipse 7301 Video/CD/monitor
Amplifier: Orion Xtreme 500.4
Front: Polk/MOMO 6.5 component
Rear: Undecided
Sub: One 12" Polk/MOMO
EQ: Alesis ProSound 1/3 octave eq <--- left over from my competition days.

If Eric would sell me his Xtant amp and fiberglass rack, that would be sweet.

AcuraTL-

I'm not sure if you're getting a good deal, or paying retail for the Polk/Momo comps and sub, but unless you are buying for the momo label in your car I highly discourage you. If you wouldnt mind giving a dollar value you a willing to spend on the front stage plus a single 12, and a box preference I'd be willing to make a few sugestions to you to compare against the Polk/Momo's. You may find yourself liking it much better, as well as saving a little bit of money.

I am still trying to find a site that can get the Eclipse 7301 head unit way under MSRP. So far, I found a guy that is willing to see it for $1400 brand new. I'll see if I can find it cheaper.

Also, I am looking for Focals mids/tweets right now.

I wonder if CD Technologies is the same as Clif Design Technologies several years ago. If it is, then those are bad ass speakers. I'd won many IASCA shows using those speakers. I was getting better sound quality scores consistently than the people using USAudio Waveguides and Image Dynamics horns.

cd techs are pretty good for the money, but get the hd series. the crossovers are very steep which sets their sound characteristics apart from other components. i don't think they are the same as the old clif designs.
if you are looking around 400 for components..cd techs are a good choice, but i'm biased and would rather get diamond hex's. they sound darn good and crystal clear for the money...

If you want to upgrade, try to find a CL head unit. The CL unit has only preamp outputs. The entire stereo is powered by an amp in the trunk.<p> So with a CL head unit you get the 6 disc changer and the option to add any amp and speaker combo you want!

Hey TL I would definately go with the Eclipse deck which ever one you choose. I have two sets of Boston Pro 6.4's and they are sweet as hell!! I ran them off an Xtant 3300c. Now that amp would power everything you need. It has 3 channels but actually you can run a phantom two rear channels off of the front ones. I would definately go with the same set up in the rear as the front so you get the same sounds all the way around especially if you go with a DVD player and want Dolby Digital sound. The amp was replaced by a 3300x and them followed by a 603x. Xtant's are sweet amps!!

Hey, if the CL head unit has only pre-out, won't the TL-S also? Since its the new 6 in dash changer unit, will it be the same???
