Question Tape Deck

Has anyone added a tape deck? Any thoughts or guidance?

By "tape deck" I mean "cassette player".

I had the dealer install the cfactory assette player in my TSX so I could use an adapter for my portable MD player. Unfortunately Acura/Honda does not offer an MD player directly. So far no problems, other than the dealer screwing up my door over the cupholders in the console. Now it won't stay closed and has to be replaced. It also took a long time to install - over 2 hrs of actual work time for one tech - took the whole console apart.
One apparent error in the owners manual. It says that when you stop the car while playing a cassette, then start the car again, that you have to press "play" to start the cassette again. I have found that the tape (or adapter in my case) starts automatically, without pressing "play" again.
Sound quality even through the adapter is quite good. Minidiscs are great for cars, not so for critical listening. I actually have yet to play an actual tape. Maybe tonight.

Wow, welcome to 1976 guys!

Just kidding

Seriously though, there are so many ways that you could hook up a portable player to your system other than an $800 tape player. I honestly can't remember the last time I played a tape. It's got to be 4 or 5 years now.

I got it, and I'm very glad I did. It's quite good, although some aspects REALLY ARE almost like 1976! -- e.g. it doesn't give you any timings, and the FF and Rewind are very slow. But I do a lot of stuff with cassette tapes, and for me it was well worth it.

A cassette player does sound a bit 1976, but I like to listen to books on tape during long car rides and my local library has many more cassette books than CDs.

I'm mostly concerned about whether the player "fits" properly and whether inserting the cassette player has created rattles or other problems.

No problems here either, other than those stated above. No rattles or cassette adapter noise while running. Fit looks perfect.
