system setup

I was wondering what upper-end head units you would suggest (also what will look good) in a 2001 cl type s with navi screen? I know the stock head unit is huge, but I guess a tray could be placed underneath the aftermarket head unit and it still would look alright.
The reason I am asking is because my friend and I just recently hooked up my IDMAX 12 inch v.3 sub to a JBL 1200.1 watt amp and it seems that its not getting a strong enough signal. I've heard from many people (including the bose website) that subwoofers do not reach their full potential with the bose integrated system. So I am thinking that it may be time to tear out the head unit and front speakers, so that the IDMAX can get reach its full potential.

you need a metra kit to take up the space left from removing the stock HU. the model # is 99-7868 for a non-navi, I don't know if its the same for the navi model.

how much $$ do you mean by upper end? if you want to go nuts the eclipse joyride is $2,000 and that is one kick ass deck. For a more reasonable price get the eclipse cd8053 for about 550 or the cd8443 for 400. The alpine cda 7897 and 7998 are fantastic also.
