System Options for Acura 03 Type-S

I'm planning on building a system for the TL-typeS. I would like to retain the stock deck and to add a blitzsafe in the future. My price range to build this system is roughly 600-700. In the future I might upgrade the component speakers, but for now the 600-700 does not include that.

My first plan is to buy a sub enclousure from a fellow AZ for $75+shipping
Pics can of it can be found here: http://www.icixsound.com/vb/icixnat...?do=view&id=120
Specs: Fiberglass custom enclosure for 1 12" sub. Approx .75 cuft used about 1.5 years still in great condition. Includes 12" Chrome Grill

I'm planning on buying a JL Audio 12W3v2 to fill that enclousure. Space and having it look clean are my main concerns. I've looked at a few sites and most have said Sealed Enclosure Range: 1.00-1.50 cu.ft for the JL So does that mean this box won't work?

My other question was what kind of amp will go well with this sub? ($$???)

Should I go with 4g or 8g wires?

Will I need a boost knob, or can I control it with the stock HU?

Finally I'm not really experienced with audio, but would like to try to install it myself. I justed need some clarifaction on disabling the stock amp and the EQ and gains.

Any answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can answer all of these questons fairly easily (mainly b/c it was my box). Here is exaclty what I would do if I were you: the sub will work b/c the box is filled tightly packed polyfill. this allows the box to have the same over all quality as a 1 to 1.25 cu ft box. Furthermore I did this same set up in a slightly modified version of the same box using a 12w3v2 in a 05tl.

as for the amp I would use either the e1200 or the 250/1 from JL Audio. For the wiring you can get away with 8 gauge if you don't plan on adding more amps in the future or upgrading to a bigger amp. If you think you might get bit by the bug to do more later I would suggest running 4 gauge.

For the EQ, you won't need to do much really. There are actually two amps in the TL. one is built into the radio (with the EQ) that controls the door speakers. There is a seperate amp behind the passenger side of the back seat that powers the factory sub. I highly suggest using that for the signal for the amp (there ought to be a step by step around here to tell you how to do this).

Also shoot me a PM so I can get your location and let you know what shipping will be, and if you have any other question let me know i'll be glad to be of assistance.

your link doesn't work...

personally i would always go with a bigger gauge wire setup in case you want to upgrade your equipment in the future... and it won't hurt your current setup, so i say 4g... saves money in the long run...

i installed a bass knob on a CLS6 with factory HU and subs and the knob did not make a difference... just use the factory bass control to get it close... otherwise, you can tweak it on the amp...
