Suggestions on New audio system

I am planning on upgrading my audio system completely on my 2002 TL-S. I want to install a Pioneer p4400BH head unit, some components, and an amp. I already have 2 JL 12w3v3 installed and I want to upgrade the rest of the system.

I want to install the head unit first because I heard this can make the stock speakers sound better but I dont want to pay $100 for the adapter if I am going to end changing the stock speakers later. Is there an alternative to this?

For the speakers I am thinking about putting some of these:vhttp://www.crutchfield.com/S-AslgulqY7wO/p_107DB6501/Polk-Audio-db6501.html?tab=review#details-tab
or: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7xZG18H...ml#details-tab

I am leaning more towards the Polk. Can anybody tell me if these will fit with light modification and tell me how i would go about doing this? Also, what is the actual impedance? I have heard about components not having the rated impedance.

For the amp I am thinking about an Alpine 300.4 or a rockford fosgate 450.4.
The rockford is: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4mqja7Q...w#overview-tab
Alpine: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPF...e_300&skipvs=T

I can get hem for about the same price. I want to be able to get pretty loud with good SQ and be able to hide the amp if possible.

From Pic seems the Magnet from the Speaker is not big enough to discard the OEM Plastic Basket... You can Re-Use the Plastic Mount with anything smaller than 2" from Magnet to Mount if its bigger, Plastic mount wont hold the speaker and you will have to do a Custom Piece yourself to keep the speaker in place.

Even with the Plastic Basket you have to do some little mods cuz the Basket uses only 3 bolts in a Triangle figure, Most Speakers use 4 bolts in a square so a little work might be needed.

Those Amps are pretty neat for those Speakers, Personally I would get the Alpine But I would get a more powerful version something in the 75-90RMS area....
Check Class D 4 Channel Amps:
Alpine MRX-F35
Alpine PDX-F4
Alpine MRX-F65

I had an Alpine V-Power Class D 300RMS Amp long ago and it was pretty powerful for its size..

Thanks for the info. I was looking for some amps that can do 100 watts x 4ch at 4 ohms but didn't find many, I will look into those. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i thought class d amps are not as good as class a/b in terms of SQ.

I did just what your planing on,head unit only first.I had a Kenwood double-din installed, with the Sirius(loves my satellite radio!) & shelled out a few extra bucks to have the steering wheel controls work with the unit, like civicdriver said in another post,it does lag somewhat, but you get the hang of it.In my car, just the head unit made a big difference in the SQ,for me the next step is JL-C2 series 6 1/2 componets up front, and C2 6+9 for the back. The owner of the shop that does all my audio work in my vehicles has these speakers in his personal vehicle,so if they are good enough for a guy that can have pretty much whatever he wants,Im sure they will be good enough for me!

That's a terrible mindset to have.
