Suggest a replacement Sub and an Amp for '99

can you guys suggest a replacement subwoofer for my '99?
I'm looking for something that can handle both deep and mid base.. for techno/trance/rap/etc.... I know you can't have it all, but something that does a nice job at both would be nice..

I'm not sure what size the sub is.. and I'm looking for a decent amp to power the sub, and later on some replacement speakers..

Thanks

I listen to the same type pf music as you. So i needed the nice clean punchy bass and teh deep stuff for rap. My bass is handled by a 12" Kicker Solobaric L5 in a slot vented box which will be heard comin down the block. I have a Fosgate power 550s powering it. How much $$$ do u wanna spend?

I do wanna replace the Bose sub.. using the box already there..
Not sure what size that sub is.. is it an 8 or a 10" ?

the factory woofer is a 9 inch. I am really use to retail pricing so 150 is kinda hard to work with. But My first system I was just like you. I got a US Acoustic USB-2080 thats about 280 watts for 90 bucks and get a alpine Type S 12 for about 100 bucks.

Or for less you can get a US-2050 wit about 160 watts RMS for about 70 bucks and a kicker comp for 90.

If the differ not being much I would get the first choice. You may not like this equipment, but just tryin to help.

thanks for all the info dnd, do you think the factory sub box is crappy?
should i just get a separate premade box? like 2 10"s or something?

I would like to stick to using the stock sub box so i dont have to drive around with a big box in my trunk.. but i've done it before.. so it's no big deal

AcAttack....The problem is, the factory sub does not have a box. It is just running free-air under the deck. So, there is not alot of replacement options that are inexpensive. The Kicker 8" midbass has been used by some. If you are on a tight budget, then dnd's suggestions are really good. Get yourself an amp and a good sub in a premade box. $150 might be cutting it close but, for that or a little more, you can find something. But, always do remember, you get what you pay for. The best solution would be to buy the best you can afford. You can do some searches on ebay and find some great deals on used stuff. You just do not want to put cheap stuff in your expensive car.
