subwoofers! needed asap

Ok, so heres the deal im just super tired of my components. I loved the sharpness for about 2 months then started to love it more with my new headunit. 4 months later im dying, I NEED BASS. So im looking at getting either 2 12 kicker L7 or 2 12 Alpine type r. For the type r i am thinking about using a alpine pdx 1.1000. Im also debating if i should just get one type x with that amp. Let me know what you guys think. I want something that sounds nice. Also something that wont take up too much space and my budgets about 800. Lower if possible Just a heads up i have 4 polk audio components with a mtx amp and a eclipse headunit. I dont want something thatll go out after a few months. Plus i would like to know if i would need a cap or not and wat the benefits are of a cap. Not too good with this sub and amp stuff. Thanks

I would go with kickers. They are one of the best subs out there. You dont need 2 just get one 12" and youll be good. Itll save you space and money. from my experience i had 2 12" rockford fosgates and one blew out a couple months ago and now only have one and it seems to me that im getting the same bass.

With the L7 and the Alpine PDX 1.1000 you'd be right at $700 if you buy online. You'd be $100 cheaper if you went with a type-r and the alpine amp. Either way, with 1000 watts going to it, you should be more than happy. Both can play pretty loud

You either need choose TRUNK SPACE or two 12" subwoofers. Because when you put two 12" anything in there your trunk space is GONE! If I were in your shoes I would use a single JL Audio 12W6 and a good 500 watt amp. In a custom enclosure of course. Then you shall have lots of trunk space and enough bass to shake your mustache.

The L7's will be louder but the sound quality won't be like the Type R's. I wouldn't even think of the Type X unless you want super sound quality. I've owned both the L7's and the Type R's and I've heard the Type X's. I'm more of a loud person so I'd go with the L7's. The Type R's are OK and I'd rate them in between the three, simply because the Type X is SQ oriented. The only thing I'd change is the amp. I wouldn't buy that PDX. It's a nice amp but it's like JL Audio; overpriced. There's better for the money IMO.

I say go for the L7's, they get loud and the sound quality isnt bad either. As for the pdx 1.1000, its a great amp. I have 2 pdx amps and couldnt be happier. I dont think there overpriced at all. Mines pushing 1228watts and its cost me jus over 400bux. For that price theres not many quality amps out there that put out what they say they do. Sound quality is excellent with the pdx's as well.

Just a lil update i went to a shop today and he offered me a 500 mono block fosgate with two power3 12s. He wanted 800 with a 4 farad cap. He said these would be better then type r but then he wanted 1100 for two L7s with a kicker 1500 monoblock with a cap.

id go with alpine type S

almost as nice as the type R's but use about 1/2 power... they still sound awesome. plus then you don't have to spend a $$$$ on a more powerful amp.

trust me 2 12's are gonna kick loud at 250 watts rms a piece

This is causing me to get more and more cofused
Now im completely lost. Get me back on track PLEASE. Im kinda leaning towards the fosgates since they will cost me alot less, well heres the prices im being offered, two kickers with a 1500 watt amp for 1100 witha cap, type r with 1000 watt mono alpine with cap for 900 and 800 for fosgates with cap 500 mono amp i belive it was, either 500 or 1000.

I think most people will agree that a cap is pointless, so dont bother with that. You can get 2 L7's and a ZX1500.1 online for less than $800. Thats roughly 750 watts to each sub depending on the birth sheet and the voltage your car's system is pushing out. I have heard a 10" L7 powered by an Alpine PDX 1.600 in a ported box in a brand new Denali and was very impressed. I would go with the 2 Kicker L7's with the ZX1500.1

But if you want to go cheaper than the fosgates and the kickers, get a 15" Type-R and put that 1500 watt kicker amp to it. Thats $693 online.

definately rip off :\

You can pick up a Type-R for roughly 120-140 brand new, a 1000watt mono amp ranging from 200$-800$. if you were to get a cap, upgrade the battery/alternator instead

If you want space, go with Uncald4's custom fiberglass enclosure and just one 12. You'll be more than happy, have your trunk space and won't double your budget.

OK what is your objective I see alot of opinions flying around. L7 are nice but nothing special. From your choices go with the Alpine Type Rs. They sound nice and have the potential to get loud. Like uncald said you cant have trunk space with 2 12s. I like quality subs. A single JL 12w6v2 will sound as good as many other companies 2 12s. Also for 2 Kicker L712s you need for than 1000 watts. RMS on one sub is 750 watts.

What type of music do you listen to.
Are you willing to go ported.

and cap is point less unless you get like a 10farad plus. Just go with a 2nd battery. Or upgrade alteranator.

what are you sayin' ?
L7's don't have SQ like the Type R's do but I'm not saying they don't have SQ at all. Get the Type R's. Matter of fact, buy wong05tsx's Type R. It's pretty cheap, then get another off ebay.

PDX's are overpriced. The only way I'd consider those amps would be if space was definately an issue. $400 for 1200 watts is a rip off. I'd go with an MTX TA81001 for about $100 cheaper than that PDX1000.1 and get close to 2k watts AND have extra headroom, but that's just me. Of course, if you're not buying off the net and buying local authorized instead, then I couldn't tell ya.

^just messin with ya . i just finished reading threads "sq and type-r in 1 thread doesn't belong together"

but on note, if you have 1000watts to play with, a 12" image dynamics IDMAX, the newest version would most definately make you happy.
