SUBWOOFER JL 8w7 Help

I have a TSX 09 and as you know the stock sub is okay. but can definitely slap hella harder. especially with a 8w7. question is, will it fit? second of all, 1000 watts and 500rms 3ohms, will literally removing and replacing the stock sub work? (of course adding a stronger amp) and can the hole hold on this strong bass ? does anyone know or can give educated inputs to this thoeritcal upgrade? thanks

You're going to be better off building an enclosure for a separate sub... This is due to the design differences in the drivers...

You can not just drop in a sub in place of the factory sub. Running a sub IB in our rear deck requires work to the rear deck, and making sure your trunk is completly sealed from the cabin. I'm not even sure if a W7 can be run IB, anyway...I have never seen anyone do it.

I'm guessing your wattage question means that the sub is 1000w MAX, 500 RMS, and single 3ohm voice coil?

I think you're right about the W7 not being able to run IB...

^^ These people lie to you man.

I would personally love to see you drop an 8W7 in the factory subwoofer hole.

Sorry. I couldn't resist a comment. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure.

But seriously, do not entertain that idea any further. A W7 in a free air setting mounted to a thin piece of metal would sound as good as me kicking the back of your seat.

Your best bet is to remove that OEM subwoofer and install an aftermarket sub and enclosure in your trunk. You could get an amp, sub and enclosure for the same price as an 8W7. And it would sound awesome.
