Stuff Stolen!!!
Stuff Stolen!!!
Okay, all of my stuff got stolen out of my Acura 02 Anthracite TL on Friday evening. Im walking up to my car and see my trunk open and back drivers side window busted out. My Pioneer 8600MP headunit is gone, also my Cadence Q3000 and Viper 1200.1 along with the amp rack andy my 2 12 inch visoniks in a sealed box. I am very furious!! My insurance company comes out Tuesday to look at the car. I wish i would have taken pictures of the stuff in the car. I have full coverage with Geico. I have a receipt for the headunit and an email confirmation for the Viper. Will the insurance cover all of my equipment? Do they give you the price on the receipts or retail price of the equipment? How can i prove to them that my subs and box were stolen also?(i do have an instruction manual for the subs?) Can you guy's that has had this happen give me some advice?
Thanks
Thanks
You need to provide documentation of all of it. I had receipts for everything, I gave that to Allstate and they took care of me after looking at the car.
Can you get receipts for any of it or any proof of purchase?

Were the physically mounted to the car? Two reasons I ask:
1. Most insurance companies only cover stereo equipment that is attached (bolted down) to the car. If your subs were in a custom box or something like that, they would be included. If they were just in a regular box in the trunk, thats not part of most policies.
2. If they were mounted down, you can show the claims adjuster where the subs were and use that as proof.

Many ins companies won't cover non-OEM gear without a special rider, one that they ususally don't try to sell you at the time. Proving that something was there won't be hard, but being covered will be your question. Good luck on that... don't remember GEICO's default policy position.
being an insurance agent and knowing companies like Gieco all i have to say is good luck!
this is one of the advantages of working with an A+ rated company and a company with a 5 star claims service. with gieco you never know, who knows you might be one of the 3% they suppoosedly are working to win over as stated in their falsly advertised commercials.
on another note if you have homeowners insurance or renters insurance it may be covered there because if it doesnt fall under auto insurance (and almost never does) it would be considered personal property and would be covered under the home or renters policy.
however with that you will have to pay 2 separate deductibles because they are on separate policies. (window and stereo)
this is exactly why its always to your bennifit to carry auto and home with the same company. i would never advise anyone to buy from gieco because they dont sell home insurance. they can point the finger at your other policy to easy and the home insurance company points the finger at the auto policy. basically you end up in a stalemate.
one of the advantages of working with the company i represent is that rather than pay 2 deductibles for the bropken window and the stolen stuff is that we would only charge you for 1 deductible not 2. its called our common cause of loss deductible.

I have State Farm Insurance. When my ride was broken into the adjuster came out and took care of me. It was easy to see the wiring for all of my equipment was still there. What they did ask for was receipts. With receipts they give back the same amount that was on the receipts minus deductible. They had no problem covering my aftermarket stereo because it was part of the car. I had some tools in the trunk too but they didnt cover them because they were not part of the car. Without receipts you are azzed out.
How in the hell did they steal your alarm? That's FUCKED UP! Does viper have an anti-theft warranty of any sort.
