Stock front speakers 97 acura cl 2.2
Hello Gang,
I just bought some alpine sps 1629s. They are 30 watt rms. I wanted to know if they are better than the stock front speakers on the 1997 acura cl? Also how the heck do you pull the speakers out of the front? There is no conceivable way to get to the last screw at the top of the speaker. (all you techs out there know what i am talking about).
All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ken

Can really tell you much on how much better they will sound but im sure anything is better than the paper cone ones that are on there now. But as far as getting that last screw out i had to take the whole door panel off. I have a 99 2.3 so im sure its probly the same. Major bitch and time consuming. Best of luck

yeah, you gotta take the door panel off for the easiest way... there is a way to do it with the panel on, but its kinda difficult and takes longer. Take the sail panel off (the little black triangular piece just inside the door from the mirror, pulls off). Theres a screw behind a little cover in the door handle plate. 2 screws in the armrests, one horizontally under the window switches and one vertically inside the grab handle, both under little covers. Theres a plastic plug in the top corner where the door meets the dash that just pops out with a tug from behind the panel. I take the door handle and lock knob assembly off as well to make removing the panel easier, 2 screws on the metal plate and the flip-clips on the metal control rods. The door panel will lift up and off the door frame, then theres a few electrical connections on the back. Be careful on the driver side, the wire for the security light is short, and if your not paying attention you'll rip the LED out of its little holder, which is easily fixed by placing it back in and putting the little cover back on, but im just making you aware so you can avoid any unnessecary headaches. The passenger door screws might be in slightly different locations or not have covers... its been a while since ive been in the passenger door, but take a quick look and you'll find them. sorry for the long post.
