SQ difference with different preout voltage?

I was told that the preout voltage on headunits is very important for sound quality. I have a headunit with 2.7 volts right now, but most stock headunits are about 4 V right? And I've seen some very good units are 5 to 6.5 V...so I was wondering what type of difference could I expect to hear from a 2.7 volt headunit to a 5 volt?

Stock units are not 4 volt..Stock Unit dont even have Preouts.....

And yes preamp is important in SQ, but a good SQ unit also needs to be teamed up with high quilty RCA cables.... I have a 8 volt out and Stinger Expert RCAs

oh yeah preamps...didn't remember which one i was told =X. right now i have some pretty good rca cables i believe...(the best ones that knuconceptz had atleast) so they must be pretty good atleast. i was wondering with that combined with my 2.7 v preamp headunit...would i be able to notice a significant difference in SQ if i were to have a 5 volt preamp HU or higher?

Also depends on the amp. Some low end amps won't except high voltage inputs. I have 16 volt outs, but it's not being used to it's full potential, that's for sure.

Significant difference is dependent upon the person's ear.

you can get a 2v-16v hu(using balanced xlr cables for 16v aka symbilink and so on) u wont hear a difference what it will allow u to do is keep your gains low which in turn keeps you noise floor low( alt noise ,other noise, humming and so on) if money isnt a problem i would go for a hu with a 6.5v-8v preamp voltage just to have peace of mind

Uh, incorrecto armando.

And Stinger RCA's are NOT SQ RCA's. Try Pear Cable Comice RCA cables for SQ RCA cables : )

Oh, absolute preamp voltage can be an indicator of a better-SOUNDING preamp, but there are better and worse-sounding 2V preamp sections and better and worse sounding 4V sections, and so on.
