spark plug wires?

I got some shit installed a while ago and I have a bit of a high pitched whistle coming through my speakers when the car is running. When the car is just idling, you dont hear the noise until about 4k RPMs. When I am driving the noise starts at about 2k RPMs, and gets louder the higher they get.

I had the guys at tweeter look at it, and they redid the ground connections, and made sure that the rca's and power and ground cables were all as far apart as possible. It didnt help. One of the intallers told me that replacing my spark plug wires would probably help.

Has anyone encountered this before? Could anyone give me a little more insight on how to get rid of this annoying whistle the drills into my brain while I am driving?

Thanks.

u can try sparkplug wire or u can add another ground from your battery to the chassy. just a 8" piece of 4 guage wire with two female ends. cheaper than wires and it cant hurt.

Commercial audio, commercial! I just like cars.

How long are the grounds from the amp to the chassis? A friend of mine's car whined like a biatch. Shorted the grounds from ~4ft to prob a lil over a foot cut it out. I'd really have to see your car. The more describing you can do, the more guessing we can do.

Hey
I got the solution for you, ive got the same problem. It is based in your ground wires and the signal is created because of the rcas that go to your external amp for you speakers. Go to radio shack and get two "rca ground loop isolators" and it should clear your problem up.

lol

that sucks

it is almost certainly a ground issue, so replace and make sure that the current ones are as short as possible and clean

This is the simplest solution. Ppl would say the ground loop isolators degrade your signal. Unless you are a hardcore competitor or judge with trained ears, you would not notice the loss in your frequencies. These ppl are at most 10% of the population.
