SNHOND3 ... where to get (preferably in Canada)

A quick search for SNHOND3 shows that only logjam sells this thing. But to get them to ship to Canada is a pain in the ass (and also looks to be pricey with all their "international processing fees" ...geez guys have you ever heard of NAFTA or free trade...i'm not ordering from china!).

Is there anywhere else I can buy this adaptor? Any Canadians out there who have purchased one and where did you get it from?

I ordered one from logjam last thursday.
I was going to wire transfer, but the processing fee cost $35!
So I made a money order and mailed it out. Saved $20 this way.

I just got mine installed just now Works great! I got it from logjam. It think it's well worth the money, and the instructions given at this forum are great

I have some pictures of the installation here:
http://andylee.us/gallery/line-in

Overall, I found the installation to be easy (for non-navi) and moderate for Navi (due to the splicing of harness....plus extra parts).

So It sounds like logjam is the only place I have found lots of places that sell soundgatye products, but I'm not sure if they carry the SNHOND3.

tinyau01 , what was the total $$ you paid including shipping. What were the border duty fees? Thanks.

$17X.XX (forget exact amount) for logjam , $5 for the money order and $9 for register mail.
If u choose to wire transfer, HSBC charge me $35 for processing fee. That's why I made a money order instead.

I should be cheaper than 170, I just forgot that one of the $10USD was for wire transfer processing fee from logjam. So I paid them extra$$.

Try Soundgate at (307)674-4707. They should be able to hook you up.

go to any local custom car stereo shop, they should be able to get it for you. I know there a soundgate distributor here in west coast but they only do business with retailers. I can order it from them, but buying it locally is most likely going to be cheaper coz of shipping and stuff.

Hi! Someone here mentioned that there is a local (BC) distributor for soundgate products that should be able to order this SNHOND3 locally in vancouver? If so, please let me know where I can contact this dealer! Thanks for the help!

I'd be interested in a group buy, although, we would need to figure out who is willing to pay for the whole lot, and how to collect/distribute the units once they arrive. Who else is interested?

Ya, we could figure something out. Its not that hard as long as the retailer is willing to co-operate.

So any other takers?

Hmmm...maybe i'll create a separate thread for this.

That would be great if you can find out, and post it for us after! If it's worth it, perhaps we can arrange a group purchase from this local distributor rather than logjam. Thanks for looking into it!

called the distributor today and i dont think it's the best route. First of all, my dealer cost is even higher than the price from logjam. Probably because of the price wasnt adjusted to reflected the recent dramatic change in the US/CAD exchange rate.

Also, they dont have that particular item in stock. And when they check with soundgate, it seems the dont have it in stock right now either. And it will take at least a month for them to order it from soundgate.

so, my suggestion will be just get it from logjam, there wouldnt be any substantial price difference after all the shipping and custom and might be even cheaper. coz even if you get it in canada, you will still have to pay GST. and plus PST if you are in BC.

Just got an email from Logjam, he'll ship my order next Tuesday.

I mentioned that a few people in GTA and BC are interested to buy the SNHOND3 from him, what'll be the best thing he can do.

So did he seem interested? I think we can probably pull together about 5 people. Maybe more if we make include americans.

OK cool. I am going to try and find a local retailer here in the GTA, and maybe even call soundgate. If anyone else is interested in buying one of these please let me know.

Here's the reply from logjam.
"At this time, we know if no promotions on the SNHOND3. However, if you sent us
ONE order for 4 or more of them, we can sell them for $89.95 each. We could not
offer the same pricing for 4 individual orders."
Hope it helps!

Interesting. Logjam's site still claims that as of 11-28 they are on backorder and not expected until the end of the year and that you should order now to be placed on the backorder list.

Soundgate http://www.soundgate.com claims they sell direct to consumers on this part but I see no way on the site other than email to order one.

If y'all do decide to do a group buy and let us 's in, I'd be game.

Hmm...i dont see on the soundgate website where it says they sell directly to customers. They list logjam as their only certified online retailer.

One alternative to soundgate is blitzsafe (http://www.blitzsafe.com) who makes similar products. In fact they seem to be cheaper too. Right now they list the new accord and tsx adapter as "coming soon" but I have emailed them to find out exactly what this means. Not sure what everyones thoughts are on this product but it may be an alternative if things dont work out with the SNHOND3.

In any case, it looks like we have enough interest to setup a group buy (and yes we will include all of NA).

This might be good news if there is another alternative.
Perhaps I have a silly question, but does anyone know why the HU on the TSX has the button for AUX input and why honda doesn't have their own adapter to facilitate this? Thanks for the posts and info from everyone so far!

No biggie. Just FYI here is where they say consumers can purchase direct:

From http://www.soundgate.com/consumer.htm:

What we have come to realize is that while most people prefer a professional installation (we do recommend this), there are times when there isn't a SoundGate Dealer nearby, making it inconvenient to purchase one of our interfaces. For this reason we have made available certain items for "direct to consumer" purchases, they are identified with the icon above, and can be purchased by calling SoundGate direct at 307-674-4707.
The SNHOND3 adapter has a consumer icon next to it showing it is available per the above terms. See http://www.soundgate.com/products/cd/acura-honda.htm:

The 4th item on the page has the consumer direct icon next to it and is the SND3.

It might be worth a call to them to see what's up.

I called around to some local dealers and its cheaper to go through logjam (prices are between $190 - $200). On the other hand I wouldnt have to wait for shipping etc But right now a group buy from logjam at $89 a piece seems to be the best deal.

tiny, i'm still curious to see if you get hit with duties when the package comes over the border.

duty wont be any worse than the taxes most of the time. the worst part is "clear customs" or so called service charge. but for a small item like that, shouldnt be too bad. probably CAD$20~30 max for all extra fees.

from my experiences, our custom will lay duty on it for sure, as soon as they know the sender is a bussiness operator, and value more than $10 cdn, i think it's about 15% duty, then the "brokerage fee" mabe about 20-30 for $300 item. or have then ship to the ups warehouse near boarder and pick it up, make across border ourself.... but don't ship to add different then the credit card owner....

Do you remember who it was? Did you do the install yourself? Where did your RCA jacks end up in the end? I'm not sure if I want them just dangling around.

Am I late to this party or what!
