Well, I am considering switching to a single sub instead of the pair of Image ID12's. I will have the JL 500/1 for power and I am considering the JL W7's or the IDMAX. What do you guys think?

 

i would say the w7 becuase you have jl amps and it would match... but the idmax is cheaper....

 

I just checked the prices on the W7's on ebay. Ouch. They are proud of those. Shawhite, how does your 12W6V2 sound. That is a little more along the lines of the IDMAX in price.

 

SOunds good to me. I would choose a 10 W7. THe W6v2 are like only going for 3 bills on ebay.

 

the w6v2 sounds pretty clear and is plenty loud enough for me.. but if i was choosing again i would go with the idmax...

 

Just wondering hypothetically, we take JLW7, IDmax, Adire, and Eclipse Tit, all with a 500 watt amp. Would you be able to even tell a difference in the bass.

Shaw:sell the woofer to X2 for a great price and get the IDMAX.

 

I think I am going to look at the IDMAX myself. Either 10 or 12. Although, if I ever get my new Diamond M661 components installed and I like them, I might look into a Diamond sub to match. I know some of theirs are supposed to be really good. Anyone know any info on them??

Yes... TDX is a awesome sub. I really dont see much of those on sale online.

 

I can only say that I doubt you'd be unhappy with an IDMAX.

My one 12 hits like a beyotch! My brother soiled himself when he heard what one high quality 12 could do (good thing I have leather seats, huh?)

The IDQ12s were great but they definitely don't come close to this monster.

Based on the choices you have listed, I don't think you can go wrong any way you choose. Now it's just a matter of how much coin you're willing to drop!!

 

w7 matches your amp

 

im about to get rid of my 2 type-r 12s for a one sub set up

im gona go with a one EDa 12 ..which is elemental design..

peoples on sounddomain and soundillusions.net say that this sub is very comparable to the w7, the brahma etc

from what i know its a very good SQ sub and u can run about 1000 watts to it rms and on top of that its a hell of alot less then the w7 only thing i dont like with the w7 is that u need this huge ass box and the EDa takes a small enclosure
