I'm really debating whether I should replace the 6 disk head unit that came with the CLS. I have replaced everything else except for the head unit. My current set up include MB quartz components (front), Eclipse 6x9 back , Alpine 4 channel amp driving the components and back; 2 channel amp driving a JL sub; despite all this I'm still getting the robust full sound that I crave...Is the head unit the weak link?? If I were to put in an Eclipse head unit and running RCAs would it make a huge difference in sound??

yes, it makes very big difference sound if you change your HU and Eclipse is awesome HU that have it now. Eclipse CD5441 no skip for sure.
