I can get both for the same amount...around $440.
Should I go with the original Directed 1100D (1100wx1@1ohm) and 2 '05 Alpine 12" Type R's or should I go with an Alpine MRD-M605 (660x1@2ohms) and JL Audio 12w3v2-d4. The only reason I was gonna go with the Alpine set-up was b/c of the amplink feature I can use with my IVA-D300. ANy suggestions?

 

Well, I gotta say, I'd prefer the JL woofs over the Alpines.

I hear good things about the Directed amp, but I'm an SQ guy and it's hard to think the M605/JLW3 wouldn't SOUND better...

I guess you meant to get 2 of the JL woofers? if you got the Alpine amp and 2 JL woofers you will be very happy. That is basically the same setup I have. I have 740 watts RMS going to my 2 subs in a sealed box, and I am very happy. JL woofers are really some of the best for the money.

 

Yeah it would be 2... I'm leaning towards the Alpine/JL combo for two reasons. 1- I'll get a 4 year warranty on the amp and subs and 2- The amplink feature seemlik it'll be a nice touch.
Plus my 4 channel amp is gonna be the Alpine MRV-F345, so they'll be matching!!!

 

I just bought some 12W3v2's today on my 500/1 they are both sealed. They sound great.

 

Also I am gonna be selling them I just bought them authorized with a box for my home audio and deceied to scrap the idea.
