hrmm...sounds like you WANT to do it for some reason...

there is no way to short it out by accident unless you are playing behind the dash trying to install components...and if you have to ask then you shouldn't be installing components anyway Sounds like someone wants to have the dealer warranty their radio.

well... something like that.. my headunit is not as good as it used to be, and i have a warranty on it that would replace it if they can't fix it (with a new, current model). i figure, i paid the extra $90 for the extended warranty, the headunit is about to crap out, and i have a few weeks before its over. i figure i could possibly score a new unit with better features. i know its a little shady.. so don't scold me. i'm just curious. its also good to know so i don't accidentally short my future deck.

Wait, i have a 2000, if the head unit were to "accidentally" short and the dealer couldnt fix it, would they replace it with the head unit out of the 2002-2003?

no, i doubt they will replace one in a '00 with that of a '03. I'm sure they still have a good surplus of parts around for the 99-02 models (nonin dash cd changer ones).
