Screws!

When mounting a subwoofer in it's box, what type of screws should be used?

I think sheet metal screws grip MDF better than wood screws. If you're building the box you can't go wrong with machine screws and t-nuts.

im using t nuts and machine screws. this is because if you take the screws out and put them in the same holes a bunch of times over time you will not be able to tighten the screws as much as the first few times to tap that wood.

I use 1.5" coarse thread drywall screws. the grip the best of any screw i've come across over the years. Of course i have only taken my sub out of the box once in 2+ years so I haven't had to worry about them stripping holes out (which they will, easily)

I use 1 to 1 1/4" coarse thread drywall screws. If I take the sub out I will use the same screws to put it back in, but I will squirt some caulk in each hole bfore I put the screw back in to give it more strength. And I will wait for it to dry before I tighten it down all the way.
