screen location and size for non-navi

For those w/ no navi: If you are to put a screen without going to flip screen HU, what size would you recommend? Where to put it?

hummm... ok i am currently working on my install and i have a pioneer 6.5 custom molded into the dash (where the radio use to be)... but there are companies now that make a 6.5 non flip out screen that you can put right in place of the stock headunit... i believe both kenwood and eclipse are making these units.. if you want to keep the stock headunit then i would say 7in widescreens in the visors..

oh by the way i will post pics of my install as soon as it is finished..

visor is a good idea. but I plan to use it for gps and I don't want to use it at night and get busted by cops. I'd prefer something below the window belt line. I was thinking about putting it inside the glove box

honestly i would say replace the stock radio with the eclipse avn2454... this thing has everything in one.. 6.5 screen touch screen.. navi...dvd.. cd... mp3.. and it will look nice in the dash... putting your navi in the glove box would be a real inconvience.. for one you will have to look way out of your way just to see the screen and also you will have leave the glove box open the whole time you are looking at it...

I just installed the new Eclipse AVN2454. I have had it for about two weeks now, and I am VERY impressed with it. I really wanted the TL with navi, but I could not pass up the deal on mine. The Navigation on the AVN is dead-on. The interface is very easy to use. And as SHAWHITE said, it does everything. I am also waiting for Eclipse to release the SIRIUS interface. Thogh I was told not to hold my breath. I will take some pictures of my install and post them soon. Let me know if there are any specific questions you have on the AVN, I would be happy to answer them.

The Eclipse is an awesome looking piece. I just could not justify the over $2k in cost. I am pretty sure the Kenwood in Ron's pics in the DDX-7015. That is one sharp unit and does everything except it does not have built in navi like the Eclipse.

hey ron.. what did you make that faceplate out of mdf.. looks kind of think but i love the way you took into consideration that you would be able to see behind the faceplate with the unit folded down and made the faceplate thick.... attention to detail makes all the difference.. nice and clean...

It's 5/8" PVC. It worked out perfectly because we made it meet the inside edge of the unit so it looks like one piece like you said when the face folds down
