??'s on custom XM radio install.

Hey guys, Im in the process of trying a custom Xm roady2 install in the sunglass holder. has anyone else done this install or one similar? And if so any insight too this project is appreiciated. Now I think I have everything under control prior to starting the job I only have one thing im not sure about, Thats the power source. My worry is what do I use for a source, Do I try and get a long plug and just run it behind the dash, headliner, etc. Or do I hardwire the unit straight into the fusebox witch will require me too seek a lil perfesional assitance. And also if anyone has pics that would be nice. Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Cut the cigarette cord, but before you do make sure it is a single wire, if it is two, then the black side will need a ground...you can extend the power (or if it is only one wire then do this with it) to the fuse box under the drivers side dash. On the cover it will tell you which fuse is for ACC... that is accessory and will only turn on with the battery...either stick it in with the fuse, or solder it onto the wire coming from that fuse...

If you don't want to do that, then just plain extend the cigarette adapter wire till it is long enough to plug into the source in the bottom of the console.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here...there shouldn't be anything wrong with simply extending the wires so he can plug into the cigarette lighter in the consol/armrest.

The fuse idea was just a thought stemmed from me using that same thing for my amp remote wire.

umm nevermind i misread it....what i would suggest is cracking the power adaptor open, soldering wires to the ground and power terminals, and hardwiring it. alot cleaner

So if I run the wire's from the cig lighter, How hard is it too run them through the headliner? Does it just unscrew?

First let me make sure we are talking about the same thing...by cig lighter you mean the part connecting to your roady2 right?...cuz don't cut the wires from your actuall cig lighter, too much unecessary work.

Second, take one of the A-pillars off and it should expose the edge of your headliner...then you should be able to push the wires through from the eyeglass holder to the pillar and pull through...they might catch here and there but just keep trying...you don't want to cut the headliner in a simple project like this.

And, to answer you question, the headliner should just have buttons, not screws, so it should just pop off where you need it to.

It's definitely fuckupable...it's kinda the same material as peg board...fairly soft, and if you pull too hard you will crease it...then it will look bad, so the second you hear ripping or tearing, stop....you will be able to figure it out when you actually do it...won't be difficult
