Question Running 12V line to trunk

When I ran the power (for the DOM mod, DVD player & AUX3) I ran it on the same side as the RCA audio cables. RCA on bottom, Power on top.

My buddy was saying that I was breaking the "cardinal" rule of audio install. I mean if I was running a 400 watt amp I could see running the cables on separate sides of the car...but these devices must pull so little juice. Plus I didn't want to tear apart both sides.

Anyone else run the power/sound cables on the same side of the car for this install?

It is bad to do so.. But if you don't have any road noise then you're fine.. As soon as you start getting some interference then it's time to run it on the other side..

Do you have any problems with it? No? Then it's fine. Don't know where you ran the cables exactly, but I'm sure they run with OEM wiring at some points, if not all their length, e.g. power windows, heated seats, door locks, rear defogger, antenna, navi, fuel pump, you never hear anyone say to avoid those...

I pulled the rubber door molding strip off and popped the plastic molding off. Yes, it runs along with the power windows/seats wire. But my friend said those didn't matter since they are shielded well. Sound is good from what I can tell, but I am kind of a perfectionist as far as sound. I'll just try it out for a few months...can always run the other side.

They aren't shielded.

If you are a perfectionist, and you can't tell, then there isn't a problem.

I didn't think so.

Went for a long ride this weekend, worked awesome! The only problem now is I had to delete all of those crappy <128 bitrate MP3's...man they really sound bad through the sound system.
