Resurecting Old Thread re: ID3 tags **Petition**

Hi all...I searched for info on ID3 tags for information on eventual implementation in the "standard" navi unit. I found a thread (which I didn't reference because my computer crashed before I could, and now I can't figure out the search terms I used) that suggested "we" sign a petition requesting the functionality be offered in upgrade form. All Acura would need to is provide a flash-prom to the dealer, which could be applied to our units. Of course, you'd need to have the OEM MP3 player installed, but if they could get this functionality working, I'd be MUCH MORE inclined to shell-out their exorbitant price. Any one else??

I too don't know about this thread, but it really belongs to Audio and Video, so I'll move it there.

The OEM MP3 player is a joke IMO. It absolutely should display ID3 info on NAVI equipped cars but it doesn't.

Dan Martin- Hence the purpose of my thread! If others want to begin a petition to require ECU flashes, why can't I begin one for ID3 tags??

The problem is that there is a very limited market for the MP3 player and to get the navi to display ID3 info will require a major redesign. Something tells me a petition isn't going to do much. It's probably one of those things that you'll just have to live with or you could buy any one of the millions of other MP3 players that does display ID3 info.

What is the ECU flash petition you're talking about?

I remember seeing something about it at some point, I could be wrong, and I don't have time to search for it right at the moment.

You're probably right about the futility of this project, but it still sux!
