Replacing factory-installed XM with an HD receiver? TSX, TL,...?
I'm interested if there is a possibility of replacing the factory installed XM radio receiver (in the trunk area in the 1GEN TSX, IIRC) with a newer HD receiver, e.g. Sony XT100HD HD Radio Tuner, Peripheral HD Radio Tuner HDRT, JVC KT-HD300 Add-On HD Radio Tuner....
I know nearly nothing about HD radio, so a start for discussion would probably include:
I know nearly nothing about HD radio, so a start for discussion would probably include:
- Does the stock sat radio antenna "hump" work with HD radio receivers?
- Will newer HD sat radios support the somewhat older Acura head units?
- What IS the manufacturer name and model number for various Acura audio system head units (leaving this open so this thread can cover multiple models)?
- Are the interfaces proprietary (i.e. Kenwood's won't work with Pioneer head units, Sony receivers only work with Sony head units)?

hd radio is nothing amazing. the stations you get very by region and its still not as diverse as satellite radio.
if you must have hd radio, a company named peripheral is your best bet. they make OEM integration equipment and they also have ipod/aux/hd radio options.

HD Radio receivers work with the FM antennae (not satellite radio)
I saw this post, and I was hoping that Directed would make an HD Tuner that would connect like a satellite radio tuner and pass artist/track info onto the factory head unit, but no such luck
instead, you have to find a home for the controller![Yuck](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/yuck.gif)
