Renew your XM *now*, or lose your free online streaming...
If you're a user of the online listening service as I am from time to time, here's XM's reason to renew in some fashion this week:

Note the fine print. "On your next renewal date,...." Think about that. When you renew later, you'll LOSE one of the benefits that you've been entitled to. :thumbsdow Since my current term is up in November, I should continue having benefit of online radio all year, right? ... Right?
(I wouldn't bet on it.)

For $77 I've received "XM Everything" which doesn't include the extra Howard-Martha-Whatever "Best of Sirius." They may have to change the name from "XM Everything" if it doesn't include online streaming.

Another sign they are cash strapped - doing offers to get users to renew sooner than needed. Good luck getting money back once they file for bankruptcy. I am done with XM - see my post from yesterday.

is it just me or is xm radio an extremely compressed feed. its like when you listen online to the low bandwidth setting.
i have an 08 tsx, with factory everything. is there any way to increase the bandwidth of the xm signal? after this year i don't think i will renew due to the poor service. i mean even fm radio sounds so much better.

Yeah, XM signal quality isn't the greatest. I think I read somewhere its like 64k MP3 or something like that. And some stations sound more compressed than others, at least to my ears. I had XM in my last car and a pretty decent system and it sounded the same. There's nothing you can do about it, its just the nature of the beast.
But, XM is nice if you take any kind of road trips or anything like that. It was nice to drive back from DC and not have to worry about the radio. I had my iPod and my CD book too, but I like to listen to new stuff from time to time too. For $77 a year, I think its worth it.

The commercial-free music stations seem to be a higher bandwidth. Like ... 128kbps stereo? That's still better than FM, I would presume.
