Removing stock HU

Does anyone know the best way to remove the stock HU? I want to try and make a custom install kit for an aftermarket HU and need to see what the space will take. Any suggestions would be helpful. Late.

I can take mine out and put it back in less than 30min

yerffej,

You have to take out the 2 long side trim pieces first.
- Open the center console lid and the trim pieces' end up.
- Under the little carpet piece inside the center console, there are 2 screws, remove them.
- Remove the 4 screws where the shift gate meets the center console.
- Remove the driver's side fuse box cover, you'll see a screw holding the cover piece under the steerling wheel, remove it. Remove the cover piece, it's held in place by several clips.
- Remove the side panels. It's held by 3 screw and a clip on the driver side, 2 screws and a clip on passenger side.
- Remove the shift gate. You would have to look around and do what need to be done. There are too many screws to list.

Any special installer warnings?

I think I'm about to finally pull the trigger and get rid of Bose once and for all gutting the rest of the system. I'm assuming most installers are very good at what they do, but anyone have any info I should tell the installer to be extra careful of before they start?

I dont think so. Nothing special beside the basic precautions every installer needs to know.
