Remote turn on wire under the hood????

I just installed my PIAA fog lights with the remote switch so I didn't have to drill through the firewall. Well my remote switch main box which is located under the hood needs a remote (ignition switch) turn on. You know like the wire that turns on the amps for the cars except its needs to be under the hood since I don't have access through the firewall. I already temporarily hooked it up to the hazards and they are working except they stay on even with the key out of the idnition, which means if I forget to turn off thats right dead battery. Does anybody know of a wire like this or a fuse I can hook up to??? Im even thinking about hooking it up to rear window defroster.

I think most ppl wire it to the parking lights....I'm don't remember which wire it was...for a TL, i think it's a orange wire with white dots, it's in the block of wires under the driver side. Do a search..i remember it was on here or the TL forum

Yea but wouldn't I have to turn on the lights in order to turn on the fogs. I want it so I can turn the fogs on without any other light on. Thanks for the response.

Why would you have to drill through the firewall? There is a piece of rubber in the way that can be easily removed.

I saw two pieces of rubber one that is closer to the top that leads to where the wiper motors are at......the other one is lower but I couldn't reach it. I got a hanger and tried to fish it through but it wasn't budging so I opted to getting the remote. The remote was expensive but so much easier so I don't regret it...plus I can always use the fogs and the remote on next car. I'm happy with the install I just need a ignition turn on switch that is located under the hood...I think I'm going to test all the pairs untill I find one, dam that is what I was trying to avoid.

Then if you want to be able to use it without the lights being on. You need a constant power source. You'll just have to make sure you turn them off.

Or spend the time to run the wire to the ignition wire.

you should just use a test light and find a wire that is only on when your car is switched on or look in your fuse block for something like the cigarette lighter and look for the same colored wires under your hood
