Recommended Speakers... PLEASE HELP.

Which door speakers would you guys recommend for a 2003 TL Type-S non-navi. I am just wanting to replace the stock front and rear door speakers with something a little nicer. I don't want to cut anything and am wanting something that will sound good with the factory HU and amp.... Basically im just wanting to undo the stock speakers and bolt up the new ones and have better sound. Doesn't have to be killer sound but am looking for ones louder than stock.

So, please recommend what speakers will be a direct fit replacement for the stockers, and will sound much better without adding a new amp or any other modifications...

And before anyone recommends I do a "search" I have already done so, but couldn't find the exact info I was looking for. I don't have an extra 3 hours to sift around either so I was just hoping someone would please give me some recommendations.

THANK YOU.

6 1/2 in the front.

6x9 in the rear.

I ran Infinity all around and has been great for me.

Some people don't like then (everybody has an opinion) but no issues for me thus far.

You have to look at your price point but I don't think it is worth your investment into nice replacement speakers unless an amp. is going to be in your equation.

The stock amp. cannot support the watts needed to run the higher performing speakers and that will make your speakers sound like

if you want the speakers louder, check the SPL @ 1W or 2.83V specs of the new speaker. You'll probably need this in the 90+dB to be noticeably louder.

The Dayton RS mids sound much better than stock in my tsx, but they're not louder.

Check out parts express for decent stuff. I took a quick glance and found these efficient (louder) speakers, but I've no idea how they sound.

To make this worthwhile, research a bit elsewhere too. diymobileaudio.com may have good suggestions.

Check out this driver comparison...

to be honest..don't change the speakers if you don't plan to amp them..it's a waste

Generally speaking, car audio requires you to go big (as in a full setup) or go home.. unless you're only adding a substage (subwoofer)

the 03 TLs come with 5.25in door speakers front and rear. Many AZ members, as well as myself, have positive feedback with 6.5in Alpine type S coax speakers. Fitting the speaker does require trimming down the inside of the plastic speaker cup a bit. I've heard that the Type S speakers do fine being powered just by the HU. But along with everyone else, I recommend amping the door speakers if you want to use them to their full potential.

Go 6.5 OZ Audio Components or Infinity Kappa's all the way around.

^^ word

the stock amplification isn't gonna supply the optimate rms needed to get the most out of the speakers...so just wait until you can do it correctly and get an amp + speakers

as mentioned above though, dayton makes some great overall speakers
