rear spoiler rattling. HELP!

just installed a sub and now im not getting rattleing in the trunk but the spoiler. sounds like its coming out of the break light area but removed the break light and the sound is still there

will dyno matting the trunk lid (and where on the lid?) help? or that spraying some dynomat spray in to the spoiler help?

it really sounds like crap from the out side (cant hear it inside.)

thanks

my sub fires thru the back seat, not towards the rear of the trunk. No rattles, never, ever

don't know if the new cl's still have the two cross bars for tension on the top of the inside of the trunk, but that's what rattled like crazy on my 99. just wrap tape or some type of padding in between the two tension bars (if u have them) and that should stop the rattling

One simple thing to try. When you lift up the trunk lid, you'll see two rubber bumpers, one on either side of the bottom of the lid. Unscrew each one a little and then close the trunk lid and crank up the bass. It fixed my rattling problem.

My spoiler cracked.........I think it was because of my system. Don't tighten the bolts that hold it down!!!!! The rattling comes from the brake light. Take the lense off and put some weather stripping or a tiny bead of silicone around the edge and put the lens back on!

you seem pretty sure of that...i will try it when i get it back from the body shop...now you're talking about the space in BETWEEN the 3rd brakelight and the rear window right?

No....the acual lense on the spoiler...its plastic on plastic. The spot you mentioned is a common trouble area too.

1) WHat did you do to fix yours...? Weather stripping or silicone?

2)what do you suggest for the space BETWEEN the rear window and brakelight?

Do you have pictures? Can you take pictures?

THank guys
Nick
I though it was that so i took out the break light and still heard some rattle in the spoiler, but what i did was buy some spray in dyno liner and spray it in the spoiler hole where the light goes and it helped quite a bit, and put some leftover dyno mat on the break light too. its still there but only when i turn it up pretty loud and its not nearly as bad.

Hey j mack
ya you the man. i am sooo freaken addicted. i got a jl 10 w6 but i had also ordered a infinity perfect 10. but the place i ordered it from keep saying it was on back order so i canned the order. I was going to see which one i liked better. i may just stick with the jl. it sounds sweet. but the per 10 i heard was bad ass and cheaper.
did you have any rattles in your spoiler?

The spoiler is hollow....so unless it was solid...theres not much more you can do. As for the 3rd break light...you have to take out the whole rear deck cover....its a pain...I just went to the dealer and told them it was rattling and they fixed it!

I had taken the 3rd Brake Light off the Car when I had it tinted. So since I didn't need it anymore, I matched the color with the Deck Lid Fabric and Covered the whole Brake Light in Fabric. This stopped all my rattles.

You mean, when you took out the light you covered the hole with some fabric?

Yes, I covered the entire front part and botton of it, hmmm actually it may be the entire thing, I took my rear deck into a Huge Fabric Place had them match it, and I spent a day pulling it tight over the Light
