Rear spoiler rattling...

My rear spoiler is rattling like crazy with the system turned up. Will dynamat cure this problem? Any suggestions on how to stop this rattling?

cant hurt but I doubt it, I have dynamat all over my trunk and inside everything is great but outside - my trunk is hurting. Its kinda annoying, I think its just the air pressure inside that actually moves the trunk. Only thing we can do is to either, relieve the pressure inside or tighten the trunk somehow.

I did remove the factory sub which should of relived some pressure, but only helped a little but, not enough. I was going to try to make the trunk a little tighter. I did just find that if you press down hard on the trunk while the stereo is turned up the rattle almost goes away completly. So my question is, how do I tighten up the trunk?

im in the same boat, i really dont know about making the trunk tighter, but I wish I could. It would also make it louder inside the car cause the sound would have a more solid place to fire back too

I just tighten the latch in the trunk and it did make a significent difference.

Adjust the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the trunk lid. Adjust them by unscrewing them.

I have dynamat extreme in my trunk and my spoiler still rattles, the only suggestion Ive gotten was to unscrew the brake light and spray tripple expanding foam throughout the whole spoiler to fill the empty space, but I have yet to try it. The can of foam is only about 4 bucks, you just gotta be careful with that stuff. Im still looking for another solution.

DO NOT USE THE EXPANDING FOAM.... That stuff will blow the spoiler apart.

The answer is to use polyfill. Take the spoiler off and stuff the polyfill using a plastic stick into the spoiler. I did it to mine and it doesn't rattle at all. Here's what polyfill looks like.

You can get polyfil at any fabric store or walmart.

Expanding foam works really well, but you have to be extremely careful when working with it. If you use too much it will easily crack plastic / buckle metal when it expands. Thats why they don't recommend filling enclosed voids w/ it. If the only access into the spoiler is thru the brake light, then it would make it extremely hard to fill w/ the expanding foam.

Do you have to take it off, cant you just stuff the polyfill through the brake light opening? Just curious, seems if you use a long enought stick to pack it tight enough, it would work just fine.

You might be able to. I actually had to cut another round hole on the underside of the spoiler so I could pack it in there good and tight. There is one where the spoiler light wires come out. I had to cut one on the other side of the spoiler.
