Rear Speakers for 02 TL
Hi all -
Yes, I know rear speakers aren't recommended for the purist. After reading all the other threads I figured I should get that out there first.
I have an 02 TLS, with a pair of Polk DB6500 components in the front, a 10" JL PowerWedge sub in the trunk, powered by an Infinity 255A 5-channel amp. I had an older cheap Sony 5-channel amp that went bad (surprise), and ended up blowing both front and rear speakers on the right side. I was able to replace the front Polks, and now have the Infinity amp - and everything is perfect - except......
The problem - I had a pair of Polk DX-6's in the rear doors, and as I said the one on the right side is now blown. It sounds horrible at anything over low volume. Generally I keep everything faded all the way to the front when I am driving alone or just with the wife, but I have 2 kids that ride in the back seat and cannot hear anything very well with it faded some to the rear, without me cranking it up and then the wife complains. Sometimes, when the kids want to hear their music (which is stuff for 4 year olds and drives me batty) - I like to be able to fade it all to the rear. So I need these speakers.
So, these Polk's have long been discontinued, and I need a new pair that will fit in the rear doors with little to no modification (none preferred). Anyone have any suggestions for full range speakers for this application? Would prefer 6.5's, but everything I see recommends 5 1/4's. I do not want components back there.
