Maybe we should compare it to other stock systems of other cars?
For that I give it a 7.5
Against something that could be put in the TL its a 4.
I have Navi so I'm stuck with it because I don't want to lose voice prompting. (actually i can't sink cash into it I just keep telling myself the navi thing)

I love my bose. Actually compared to my I30 I had previous to this car, I like the Acura one better. I'd give it a 10, but when taking the sub rattle, and the fact that it cant play burned CD's into account, I give it an 8. Other than those things, I love it.

lol... it rattles whenever any song comes on with bass... even if the volume is not up a lot. But I never really hear it because the volume is usually up and the music drowns it up... its just real annoying and almost embarrasing when I have people in the car. yea... I have my bass up to 3/4 and my treble up to 1/4-1/2.

I Would give the System a 10 since its one of the best factory base audio systems. A Bose stereo as a no cost option freebee is cool. You cant expect a Thumping system for the price we pay for the car.

It sucks. No tweeters, ****ty sub and it doesn't get loud at all. My 2000 GTP had the base AC Delco 6 speaker system and it sounded 10 times better. I've since added tweets and a JL Audio 12W3v2 sub and it sounds pretty good now.

I really didnt think the factory was that bad. I got my TL when I was 17 and I was very very impressed with it. Some of us are just juding the system on how loud it got or how hard it hit. For SQ the bose was awesome, only down fall was the lack of tweeters. I give the system a overall 7. Ask me again when I turn 77 Ill give it a 10++++

Great for someone who doesn't know any better. Crap for someone who does.
A $500 dollar aftermarket system would blow it away. I know, I just finished putting one in my friends car that makes my stock system sound like sh!t.
YMMV.

Bose sued Consumer Reports in the 60's when they tested his expensive speakers and said they sounded lousy. (He lost that suit). And on top of that he's one of the few hold outs in the audio business that still forces its resellers to charge retail prices and not to discount anything or loose the right to sell his products. No Idea why people perceive Bose as a moderately high end brand.
Thats what puts him on the Forbes list I guess. I wonder how much less our TL would have cost us if there was a delete option for the stereo. Many of you on these boards might be to young to remember the good old days when you could actually opt out of the factory stereo and save $$$. Made sense if you planned to pull it out the second you bought the car. Mine is just taking up room in my closet until i sell the car someday and put it back in.

You all know where I stand...
It's certainly only a 2 or 3.
IT WOULD NOT COST THAT MUCH MORE TO MAKE IT A 6 OR 7. We are already paying a lot just for the Blose name, even if it is coming as stock! Swap the blose speakers for ANY decent coaxial speaker , or ANY component speaker with a tweeter and it could be rated a 6 or 7.
LOSE THE STUPID EQ that does nothing but try to make a futile attempt at producing a full range sound from cheap cardboard midrange speakers... The EQ also compresses the hell out of the signal in an attempt to provide volume while severely limiting the slew rate and producing mush instead! SPEND THE SAME MONEY ON GOOD SPEAKERS AND LOSE THE WORTHLESS EQ ELECTRONICS, and you would have a much better system for the same cost, that would then rate around an 8. Improve the cheap sub and it could rate a 9. (for stock systems)
It's all marketing to claim fame with a BOSE system. However, This bose system is an embarrassment to their credibility. My 94 stock Camry has a MUCH MUCH better sounding stock system WITH tweeters.
I am actually shocked at the number of owners who rate the system highly on this particular forum. I realize that we are comparing STOCK systems. But like I said, my 94 Camry BLOWS the BLOSE away! It really could be a LOT better without us paying for a Mark Levinson system.
Thanks for allowing me to rant... but when I'm out on a long road run with cruise control set to 80mph, I NEED sound that can keep my truckin' instead of listening to "books on tape"...
