I noticed that while driving a loaner (GMC Truck) today that the HU front panel shows the name of the radio station and the name of the song that being played. I was wondering if our Acura's HU could do the same thing.
I have a 2002 TLS by the way.

 

Yea my moms Lexus LS430 and my dads BMW 330ci both do that on certain stations... But I havent been in there area yet with my TL. I hope it does work for our cars. Anybody know?

 

it is something akin to the RDS function on Pioneer radio's but on the 99-00 tl's that function isn't apart of the H/U's

 

Like Scott P said, it's RDS. It has been standard equipment in the UK and Europe for years, but never really caught on with US radio conglomerates. It is so rare as to not even be worth seeking out.
