Radio Removal and serial # location

Hi folks!

I need very specific instructions (with lots of pictures) as to how I can locate the serial number on my factory installed radio for my 1999 Acura 3.2 TL. What is the serial # format so I don't get the wrong number?...

From what I have heard, it takes a bit of effort and there is the possibility that some of the plastic parts may brake if not removed correctly. I have even heard that putting it all back together isn't a piece of cake either.

Links to videos, websites, or even specific postings that show this idiot how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

I have done a few searches in this section and come up empty-handed...

Thanks!

I'm not sure where is the serial # location, imagine it would be on the radio itself.
But here's how i pulled my radio out. Gently pull out two side pieces that looks like wood off the center consol, then you'll see all the screws, undo them all, pull the cup holder out too, then slide the consol/armrest thing back ward alittle bit, then pull both side cover pieces that cover the consol, then wiggle the shifter cover back a little bit and undo the screws for the climate control & radio, pop the climate control off the radio, i unplug the harnesses before i pull the radio out as the harness kindda short. I don't know how the other guys in here do it.

Thanks! I wish I was as confident as you seem to be. I wouldn't even know where to start since I don't know what piece corresponds with the words you mentioned

Any place I can go to see pictures of what I would be attempting to do? Surely this must be recorded somewhere...

before you take your dash apart or decide to let the dealer steal $100 from you. Take both the wood trims off the sides of the center console/radio and look on the side of the radio. I ended up finding my radio serial # there, on the right side of my radio. It was little white sticker that said s/n:........ Too late though, i had already paid the dealer 2 months before this.

Thanks! Nice pictures...I hope there are no differences between my 1999 Acura TL and the illustrations. If so, I would appreciate in knowing the differences...

Thanks for the link. That process is well documented. My CD changer is broke, the radio works fine. I guess I will have to replace the head unit?
