Radio Removal...Please help!

Okay...I've got the console/cupholder out(scary!!!), the dash trim off, both pockets out and I've only broken a few pieces( )!! I'm stuck on two items.. the shift knob(MT) and the radio assembly. I've tried searching(really!!) and I can't find any info to help me remove these items. Please assist!

Thank you!!

You rotate the shift knob out. The radio assembly comes out through 4 screws: two under the unit and two behind the aluminum-like moldings (which pop out) on both sides.

What are you trying to do?? :P

The shift knob is put on very tightly at the factory. The best way to unscrew it is to turn the jamb nut in the opposite direction as you unscrew the knob with your hands. Oh, the jamb nut is only on the 6MT. If you have a 5AT you just have to unscrew the knob.

I'm with slo, what are you up to?

I need to remove the radio to plug in an RF adapter and it would be easier to work on the console if I can get the top plate completely out of the way.

It is a 6mt, is there a jam nut underneath?

I found the two screws under the faux aluminum trim, where are the others?

Thanks!

1) RF adapter???

2) Yes there's a jamb nut under the knob. It's black.

3) Don't have my Helms guide at work but if nobody answers this before I get home I'll post instructions later tonight.

The RF is temporary, I'll use the AUX adapter later. This is just a quicky fix!

Ok I'm more confused than ever...

I thought the whole point of using an RF (FM) modulator was that you don't have to plug anything in. You just tune the radio to the channel on the modulator and you can listen to your aux device. Or are you doing something different?

Exactly. The AUX adaptor offers better sound, is a piece of cake to install, and doesn't require removal of any electronic device (i.e. stereo, transmission knob, etc.). I don't understand what this guy is trying to do.

The Aux adapter is on backorder, cost 100 bucks + 30.00 for the accord piece for my nav car.(Short on cash, buying the car took all my $$) I already have the rf adapter ($0), it needs to plug in to the back of the radio in place of the antenna, then the antenna plugs into the rf adapter. When the satalite source comes on it energizes the rf adapter, the aux source is off it passes the antenna to the tuner.

Either way..Don't I have to remove the radio to connect the aux adapter??

Sorry to be difficult...That's why I came to you all for help

Thanks again!
