I went to a local auto stereo shop and made a deposit for sony xplod gt510 headunit which supports ipod integ as well as USB drive. Currently i have two 12 fosgate subs along with four sony speakers. I also have two amps, one for subs and the other for 4 speakers. The guy at the shop was asking for 380 including the sony head unit and with the installation (including the wires, high low converter). I'm not sure if i already have high low converter installed. I must have if i already have the subs and the amps. I'm not too great with electronics. After doing hours of research, sony xplod has the worst ipod intergration due to slow pace of finding the music you want to listen to. So instead i went to amazon and purchased a alpine cde 9883 along with the KCE 422i ipod cable for under $200. According to online reviews, alpine has the best ipod support and easy access to the playlist. So my question is, how much should this guy charge me for installing the alpine head unit along with ipod cable and connecting my subs amps to the head unit? I really think 380 is a rip off for a sony xplod piece of crap headunit that is with installation included.

you wouldn't need the high/ low converter if your changing out the head unit because the subwoofers are going to be directly connected to the head unit. How much is the installation without purchasing the head unit from him. I would imagin not paying anymore than 200 for an install like that, however since he is including the wires and such 250 would be what I would be willing to pay for install imo

 

godam 250? i was thinking more like 100. What kind of wires are needed for the head unit installation? i'm buying the headunit separately and just having the guy install it. I even ordered the ipod cable. What are the proper wires that needed to install the head unit along with amps and subs?? is 100 to low? If i was to purchase the headunit along with installation, he was going to charge me 380. I do not know why he said i would need a high low converter. From what i heard all i need to install the headunit is harness wire and ipod cable wire for ipod. I'm a noob when it comes to radio head unit
